Frankfurt - Melbourne

Nach fast 5 Monaten geht es nun weiter mit der Reise um  die Welt.

Mit Quantas 006 geht es um 23:55 von Frankfurt aus ueber Singapore und Sydney nach Melbourne.

Dieser Flug wird etwas ueber 24 Stunden dauern, waehrend wir in unserem kleinen Flugzeug fast die gleiche Zahl in Tagen unterwegs waren.

Die Vorbereitungen fuer den Weiterflug sind nicht  komplett abgeschlossen, aber alle fuer uns erkennbaren Dinge sind angestossen,  so dass zum Zeitpunkt der Reise eine mehr oder weniger solide Grundlage (geht das ueberhaupt...) existiert. Die Planung unterliegt dauernden Veraenderungen.

Noch liegen nicht alle Ein- bzw. Ueberfluggenehmigungen  vor. In manchen Laendern haben wir noch nicht endgueltig den Landeplatz  festgelegt, der abhaengig von dem politisch Machbaren (Airport of Entry), dem wirtschaftlich Sinnvollen (Abfertigungsgebuehren wie ein Airliner...) und den  technischen Grenzen (begrenzte Reichweite des Flugzeuges) zu bestimmen  ist.

In den letzten Wochen und Monaten haben wir uns aus der  Ferne in Melbourne um die Ueberholung der N241PK gekuemmert. Der Wartungsbetrieb  in Australien hatte wohl in der Vergangenheit schlechte Erfahrungen mit (Australischen) Kunden gehabt und ist deswegen etwas vorsichtig mit uns  Auslaendern. Immer wieder wird betont (und ich meine wirklich immer wieder...), dass wir das Flugzeug nur erhalten, wenn alle Zahlungen abgewickelt sind. Wir  machen  Vorauszahlungen und bestaetigen ebenfalls immer wieder, dass wir das  Flugzeug nur mitnehmen werden, nachdem alle Zahlungen erfolgt sind.  Die  Kostenvoranschlaege nehmen immer mehr zu und wir befuerchten schon, dass man  niemals rechtzeitig fertig wird. Aber ein gewisser Optimismus gehoert zu dieser Art Reise dazu.

Von der Advanced AIS in Frankfurt haben wir uns (wie heisst es so schoen in oeffentlichen Verlautbarungen: Im gegenseitigen  Einvernehmen) fuer die weitere Planung getrennt. Solche Planungen moechte man dort nicht mehr uebernehmen, weil sie kaufmaennisch nicht zu rechtfertigen sind.  Wir unsererseits hatten auch abenteuerliche Erlebnisse durch ihre Planung, so dass wir jetzt den weiteren Verlauf der Reise durch die Firma FSI am Flughafen Karlsruhe-Baden begleiten lassen. Der Advanced AIS muss man aber anerkennen, dass das Personal ueberwiegend sehr eifrig bemueht war, uns zu betreuen. Aber Kaufleute (muessen) anders denken. Ausserdem werden wir sehen, welche moeglichen  Ueberraschungen uns FSI bereiten wird... :-)

Eine grosse Neugierde und freudige Erwartung begleitet uns Richtung Melbourne bei der Anreise zu unserem zweiten Abschnitt dieser Weltreise. Markus kommt aus Thailand und ich aus Deutschland angeflogen.

Frankfurt - Melbourne

After 5 months we now shall continue our journey around the world.

The trip starts with the Qantas 006 at 23:55H from Frankfurt via Singapore to Syney and onwards to Melbourne.

This flight takes around 24 hours, almost the same number of days we were, on the route with the N241PK.

The preparations for the onward flight are not yet complete, but we have taken all the things we thought necessary for the flight into consideration, to have a a sound foundation (if it works..)The planning underlies constant changes.

The overflight/landing permits are not yet ready for some points in our route. We are still contemplating at which airport we should land at certain countries due to several factors - administrative, economic, political and the technical limitations of our aircraft.

We have the N241PK reconditioned in Melbourne while we are in Germany. Obviously the service center in Australia did not have pleasant experiences with australian clients and is quite careful with us non-locals. It is consistently emphasized  in all communications that the aircraft can only be released from their hangar when all invoices are paid and the bank had cleared the funds to their account (or against  payment in cash - credit card is not accepted)at some point in time, where we just had quotations for the work on hand. The list of things to be fixed was getting longer that we thought the time shall run out for us to begin the trip as planned. One has to be an optimist to indulge in this kind of journey.

We have said goodbye to Advanced AIS in Frankfurt (or they said goodbye to us) for the further planning of our flights. They do not want to make such kind of work again as it is not economical from their their side.  There are so many small out of routine works that it is not interesting anymore for them to offer this kind of service. We also had our share of special experiences through their planning so for the second leg of the trip we shall be escorted and supported by the FSI - Flight Service International in Karlsruhe-Baden. We have to say the the Advanced AIS personnel were very dedicated and eager to assist us during the first leg.  But business is business - if it does not pay for them to offer the service anymore then let us see what for surprises await us with FSI... :-)

Curiosity and anticipation are my company  in this flight to Melbourne to resume the world trip with the N241PK. Markus is coming from Thailand and I am coming from Germany.
